I like the kettlebell squats, but 1-handers are more brutal than 2-handers for some reason. Maybe I need more core work. Thanks for the ideas!

Thanks for the comment. I agree with everything you mention to include the control group of rats fed crappy rat food :-) I want a control group of paleo rats! It's too bad authors try to make square pegs fit into round holes.

I believe article was about effects in the brains of the rats, that high-fat high-calorie (which includes sugars) foods create a dependency. It wasn't a nutritional study per se, it was a neuroscience study.

Even foods like tuna and salmon that have high levels of various omega-3,6 nutrients aren't considered "high in fat," hence why they weren't mentioned or excluded.

Likewise, your suggestion might provide some information regarding nutrition, but your definition of a control group isn't correct. Feedind a group what would be considered "healthy" food would be an additional experimental group. Control group rats are provided a specific baseline feed to isolate the variations in the experimental groups.

That said, the article doesn't appear to be a very good representation of the study. Basically the author took a neuroscience study and tried to shape it into a health/nutritional study for the purpose of filling the CNN Health section. People generally don't want to read about brain science, they want to read about food and health and have limited, specific, scientific conclusions immediately applied to broad assumptions about diet and this strange world the food industry has created. But thanks for posting.

Every one on internet searches for quality content. Its unfortunate most of the websites publish posts that are boring and out of context, just to show new material. Contrary to that, this blog has well-written articles.
